Bangladesh National Zoo Mirpur

Bangladesh National Zoo (Bangladesh National Zoo) is located in a beautiful natural environment in Mirpur of the capital Dhaka (Mirpur-2) . The Bangladesh Zoo was started in 1950 with a small number of wild animals in Dhaka’s High Court premises for public entertainment, conservation of animal diversity, breeding, research and knowledge about wildlife. Later, in 1960, an initiative was taken to establish a zoo in Mirpur and on 23 June 1974, the present Bangladesh National Zoo was opened to the public.

Although the main attraction of the Bangladesh National Zoo with an area of ​​about 75 hectares is the world famous Royal Bengal Tiger, there are 2150 domestic and foreign animals of 191 species. Among them are chea deer, monkey, nilgai, lion, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, bear, crocodile, zebra, flamingo, kanibak, pankauri and fish. And the animal museum has about 240 species of stuffed animals. Besides, Bangladesh National Zoo has 2 lakes covering an area of ​​13 hectares. About 30 lakh visitors visit Dhaka Zoo annually .

Animal museum

Inside the zoo there is an animal museum and a fishing aquarium . This animal museum has several species of mummified animals. Also there are various species of snakes and other animals in this animal museum . You have to buy a separate ticket to enter the animal museum .

Dhaka Zoo Schedule

Summer Schedule: April-October
Open from Monday to Saturday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.

Winter Schedule: November – March
Open from Monday to Saturday from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm.

National Zoo is closed weekly
Weekly closed every Sunday . _
But if Sunday is a public holiday, the zoo is open on that Sunday.

Dhaka Zoo Entrance Fee

Ticket Price List: Zoo entry fee is Rs.50 for anyone above two years . Inside the zoo there is animal museum and fishing aquarium, entry fee isTk 10 perpersonNo ticket is required for children under two years of age. Also the entry fee is half of the ticket price in case of school college and university students. In that case the ID card of the educational institution should be shown.

How to get to the zoo

From Sadarghat, Gulistan, Motijheel, Farmgate, Gabtali of Dhaka to Mirpur Zoo, you can take any bus or taxi, CNG or private car to the zoo.

Where to eat

There are many food stalls in front of the zoo. You can eat here if you want. Food is expensive here. Be sure to check the price of the food before eating. Apart from this, Mirpur No. 1 has a very good food hotel.
